Whilst the trout breed naturally in the rivers, Finsbury also has its own hatchery to supplement both rainbow and brown trout when necessary. The trout breeding season is generally in May/June and all members of the family are invited to view the various stages of the breeding process which is diligently managed by a proud team. The Estate is one of the few places where brown trout are successfully bred – a result of the cool temperature of the waters that flow unhindered through the valleys. Fish are released into the clear, unpolluted rivers regularly and the stocking is carefully managed to ensure that it is indeed Premier Fly Fishing. With an established history of successful breeding seasons, we are able to supply excess trout to neighbouring fly fishing establishments in the area.
