PREMIER FLY FISHING

Finsbury Estate offers you and your family an extraordinary, premier fly fishing and outdoor experience. Set within an expansive 3100-hectare private estate, this pristine environment boasts 27 kilometres of well-maintained rivers, streams, dams and weirs.

Located in the hills between Sabie and Mashishing/Lydenburg, and at the northern end of the Drakensberg, it’s a comfortable drive to the Kruger Park and Pilgrim’s Rest. As it’s situated at the end of a 20km gravel road and hosting only 22 homes, this piece of paradise was conceived to ensure total privacy and to attract like-minded families. The unparalleled network of well-maintained rivers, streams, dams and weirs offer a unique and diverse fishing experience for the skilled and novice enthusiast. Seek out rainbow and brown trout from table to trophy sizes supported through our own breeding programme and hatchery.

In addition to the exceptional fly fishing experience, families will enjoy a range of outdoor activities from breathtaking hiking trails and magnificent mountain biking routes, Finsbury is in a league of its own. Nature really does come alive here! Discover the rich mining history that these hills and valleys have been witness to during the Gold Rush, including a reconstruction of a miner’s dwelling complete with equipment. Explore the diverse and unspoilt fauna and flora for as far as the eye can see. Track the elusive Finfoot and glimpse the Jackal Buzzard whilst listening to the haunting cry of the Fish Eagle.

The Estate is also home to rare Orchids and Clivias and it’s estimated that there are approx. 2300 species of plants to be identified. Wildlife roams free. Finsbury is home to Bush Buck, Eland, Kudu, Zebra, Bush Pig, Warthog, Jackal and several members of the cat family including Leopard. Many of these magnificent creatures are sighted whilst walking the hills and even more are captured by the camera traps strategically located around. The Estate falls within the Mount Anderson Catchment Reserve and as such is a nature conservation area. This pristine environment is enhanced through an energetic and systematic programme to remove exotic plants and allow unhindered movement of all the wildlife in the area.

Finsbury is a mature share block development with a proven record and good governance backed up by an experienced and well-resourced in-house team.
